CAMP AGUINALDO, Philippines — The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) has yet to confirm the 6 or 7 reported casualties of Typhoon Nina.
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) is in charge of the Cluster on the Dead and Missing under NDRRMC
The department is carefully verifying reports to determine whether the casualties are typhoon related or not.
(We follow a process to verify the veracity of these reports.)
NDRRMC said the 87,059 families who were pre-emptively evacuated is a welcome development to the government’s efforts to achieve zero casualties.
The NDRRMC believes that the cooperation of residents is important in reducing the number of casualties.
(With Typhoon Glenda 2 years ago, 195 casualties were recorded at the time. I believe, with our increasing level of preparedness and continued cooperation and support of our countrymen, we are slowly achieving zero casualty.)
